I am an on-site only consultant. I basically fix things. The
Live and Direct USB/DVD are an invaluable tool for so very
many things, not just testing the hardware. (I also do things
like probe the entire network, etc..)
What USB keyboard? Mac's use an obnoxious Artsey-Farty
miniaturized Blue Tooth keyboard that is miserable to type
on. It has no USB connector. That is the issue.
It is really bad form to go and borrow a keyboard from a PC user,
if one even exists. Some of my customer are MAC only shops.
The customer does not need two machines out of service to
accommodate your presence. He also thinks you are an idiot,
even if he doesn't know what or why your are doing things the
way you are. The customer does not know the difference
between a Blue Tooth keyboard and any other keyboard and
you should just use the one in front of you.
With a virtual keyboard, if I got tired of it, I could always
use Blue Tooth pair bonding and switch to the miserable
MAC keyboard. Yes, you have to watch yourself type as you can
not tell where one key start and one key stops. And no delete
key either. Only a backspace key. (There may be a delete key
somewhere, but I just haven't found it.)
