Changes made. I removed a code block from aci__matching function that
now allows all of this to work correctly. I do not know if this fix is
"safe" as I could not really tell what the original code, that I
removed, was really trying to do (complicated code with no comments).
But removing it did not cause any regressions in our CI tests, and we
got the expected behavior everyone was asking for. Please review...
