So someone kindly had some time and capabilities to finally dig into
this, we'll be supporting it in rawhide/F-35 as of next week's kernel
build.

Generally though if it's an upstream problem we can't necessarily give
a time line for fixing these sorts of things as they often need access
to the hardware and possibly even HW manuals which aren't always
available or need tight NDAs so the general rule of thumb is "when
someone with the time, skill and appropriate access has the time".

The eMMC has worked on these devices for some time, no idea what's
that got to do with SPI though, they are completely independent. Maybe
you can clarify what you mean here.
