I have enabled replication on the instance with the role 'master' ('supplier' was not available) :
sudo dsconf <INSTANCE> replication enable --suffix "<SUFFIX>" --role "master" --replica-id 1
and then restarted everything.
But it still crashes as soon as compaction is triggered.
