Not really, I wasn't even aware of the nitty-gritty. xfce4-mixer isn't
even installed on my desktop, and I always use pavucontrol to deal
with sound mixing. It also looks like I'm note using the pulseaudio
plugin but pnmixer instead. The latter is a bit buggy, save for the
fact that its "Mixer" button opens up pavucontrol so all in all works
for me :)
